ABOUT US
IAIM (International Association of Infant Massage)
Although infant massaging has been a tradition in many cultures and for many centuries, it is fairly new in South-Afria and other western countries. In India, mothers regularly massage everyone in their families and pass this knowledge on to their children. Vimala McClure studied and worked in India in the early 1970s and noticed how mothers massaged their babies. She then brought the practice of infant massage to the west in her book, Infant Massage: A Handbook for Loving Parents. She developed a curriculum that includes Swedish strokes, reflexology, and yoga, along with Indian massage strokes, and shared her discoveries with other parents.
The IAIM was founded in the 1980’s by Vimala. The IAIM has Chapters in most countries, including South Africa.
